Seems Real, On the Surface
Wrightwood 659: Exhibition Collaboration.
As part of Seems Real, On the Surface, a summer course I co-taught at SAIC, students explored the architectural work of Tadao Ando through model-making and research. This course was developed in collaboration with the Alphawood Foundation to coincide with the opening of Wrightwood 659, a new exhibition space in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, designed by Ando.
Students created detailed models of Ando’s Clark Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts, which were featured on the fourth level of the gallery during its inaugural exhibition, Ando and Le Corbusier: Masters of Architecture. This project offered students a hands-on opportunity to engage with contemporary exhibition practices and architectural history within a professional curatorial setting.
Wrightwood 659 presents architecture and socially engaged art with public exhibitions held each spring and fall.
